House Pics!

In early 2000, after 6 months of back and forth with the previous owners, I purchased a house in Salford, PA...but has a Harleysville mailing address because Salford a bit small for mail delivery. The appraisal estimated that the house was worth $5000 - impressive!. However, it was on a pretty nice 2 acres of land, so I started hacking away at it!
I've put together a few progressions so that you can see the work that's been completed over the past few years.

Bedroom - I can see now that folks must have thought I was crazy. I lived in the house through most of the work...yes, even when the roof was off! I can remember waking up in the morning and seeing my breath before I finished the heating system. Nice!

Kitchen - So, I got really friendly with my local hoagie, pizza, and chinese suppliers. I had a fridge the whole time, but that's it. Needless to say, I'm enjoying the kitchen!

Bathrooms - The first two pics are of the temporary downstairs bathroom arrangements. There was only a short time with no toilet...you'd be correct in assuming that I put plumbing high on my priority list!

General Craziness - A few interesting shots. I gutted the house from the inside out, eventually replacing almost everything. The first pic shows my strategy for holding up the old roof after I had removed all the internal (yes, load-bearing) walls. Come-alongs and very precarious stilts - nuts...but it worked! The second pic is after I'd started to rebuild the internal walls. The third pic is after the old roof was removed and I was building the second floor. Let me tell you, this is the hard way! The fourth pic is the (enjoyable) demise of thousands of pounds of wood...and some other stuff.

Early Encouragement Graffiti - from mom and sister in 2000

Scary...but fun!

It sure has been a lot of work! And there's still some more to do. But I learned a lot...and overall, I enjoyed it!
